  • What is the Expl’Aura bootcamp?
This is a 3-day bootcamp for PhD students, young researchers and engineers from the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. Its aim is to enable them to transform their skills and research results into innovative products and services.
  • Where, when and how will the Expl’Aura bootcamp take place?
The next Expl'Aura bootcamp will take place on April 19, 20 and November 28, 2024. Lunch will be provided.
  • Who can apply for the Expl’aura bootcamp?
All doctoral students, rather at the end of their thesis, with initial results, in a research laboratory in the Auvergne Rhône Alpes region All young doctors who have defended their theses in a public laboratory in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, and at the latest 5 years before the closing date of the bootcamp All postdoctoral students currently on contract in a research laboratory in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region All young engineers who graduated in 2021 or 2022 from an engineering school in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region It is also possible to apply in a group (of 2 or 3). For this, a single application file bringing together the information of each member of the group can be sent.
  • How to apply for the Expl’aura bootcamp?
To apply, you must first complete the registration form . At the same time, you must also complete the application file and send it to us at contact@explaura-bootcamp.fr. Please note: part will have to be signed by the management of your laboratory for young researchers, and by your establishment for engineers. Remember to anticipate this step well!💡
  • I am in Humanities and Social Sciences. Do I fit in at the Expl'Aura bootcamp?
You belong here! While we often talk about deep tech, we also look with interest at projects based on Humanities and Social Sciences research results: as with all projects, these are scientific research results with great potential! The challenge is to come up with research results (methodology, experimentation or registration) that can be transposed into innovative products or services for society. They must also meet the needs of stakeholders: hospital organization methods, board games, digital applications, etc.
  • My thesis supervisors will never want me to participate in the bootcamp...
To validate the application, we require a visa from the thesis director and the laboratory for doctoral students. The challenge is to ensure that the bootcamp does not interfere with the progress of the doctoral work. Indeed, these 3 days should not be detrimental to the thesis, but rather complementary to it. That's why we're used to seeing doctoral students taking part at the end of their thesis, but it all depends on the maturity of each individual project! The worst thing to do would be to censor yourself and not dare talk to your management, because this is, on the contrary, an opportunity to publicize your project and get their support. If you need any help in this process, please don't hesitate to contact us, so that we can pass on any additional information about the Expl'Aura bootcamp to your managers!
  • How much does it cost to participate in the Expl’Aura bootcamp?
The bootcamp represents a cost, fully covered by PUI IMPULSE, Linksium & Clermont Auvergne Innovation. No fee is charged to participants. On the other hand, we ask you to block the dates and attend all the workshops, or to let us know well in advance if you have any problems. Lunch will also be provided. Individual dietary preferences will be requested. Travel and accommodation can be arranged.
  • Are travel and accommodation covered?
Yes, the Expl'Aura bootcamp takes place in one of the towns in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region where PUI IMPULSE (Lyon Saint-Étienne), CAP I-TER (Clermont) and FITInnovE (Grenoble) are active. Successful candidates who have to travel will have their accommodation paid for on the first evening of the bootcamp. Travel expenses between cities will also be covered by PUI IMPULSE (Lyon Saint-Étienne), CAP I-TER (Clermont) and FITInnovE (Grenoble) Please note that only intra-regional travel costs will be covered, i.e. a return trip from Lyon/Saint-Étienne/Clermont-Ferrand/Grenoble to the Expl'Aura Bootcamp event (depending on the edition, Lyon, Saint-Étienne, Clermont-Ferrand or Grenoble).
  • I'm not sure right now if I want to create a startup: do I have a place at the bootcamp?
Yes, that's why we place so much emphasis on the idea of transforming research, results or expertise into "products" or "innovative services" for society. What counts is the will to be able to transpose this scientific material into innovation for society. The methodology used in the bootcamp is designed specifically for research projects, or projects with high technological potential.
  • My project isn't far enough along, I've just got an idea, a few results, but I don't know any more: do I belong?
Absolutely! Expl'Aura is the ideal opportunity to : Develop your idea based on your expertise and research results, which can be data, a prototype, manipulation results, a methodology... Set down the first building blocks in the development of your project, and find the right answers. Take the time to ask yourself the fundamental questions for the deployment of your project, with the help of experts and other participants!
  • My project is already put together, I already know that I have to apply for this or that competition but I am not sure that the Expl'Aura bootcamp is right for me...
As part of more defined projects, the Expl'Aura bootcamp will allow you to: Challenge the idea Take a step back from the structuring of the idea and the established hypotheses Obtain an expert and external view of the project Test your value proposition Refine market hypotheses and articulate the development plan The bootcamp is also an opportunity to present your initiative to local stakeholders capable of supporting the project and providing a springboard effect for the future: Bpifrance, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region, communities, innovation clusters, development structures. ..
  • Does the Expl’Aura bootcamp earn ECTS credits?
This should be discussed with your doctoral schools on a case-by-case basis. For Lyon, PULSALYS and PUI IMPUSE are able to issue certificates of participation in the Expl'Aura bootcamp, indicating the total number of hours of training offered. Contact us for Grenoble and Clermont Ferrand.
  • Does the Expl’Aura bootcamp prepare you for the Bpifrance i-PhD competition?
Yes, the Expl'Aura bootcamp comes ahead of the Bpifrance i-PhD competition for young entrepreneurial researchers, and gives them the opportunity to submit an application.
  • I don’t speak French fluently, can I still take part in Expl'Aura bootcamp?
Absolutely! We have an application form in English but please note that all workshops will be held in French. However, you will have the possibility to exchange with other participants and speakers in English during the bootcamp (individual or group sessions). You will also have the possibility to pitch your project in English for the final jury.
